Reading as Therapy

Independent reading can be a great complementary activity to therapy. It can also be really intimidating, particularly for those who are just beginning their mental health journey. Here are some of my favorite book recommendations as well as some resources to help digest them!

Why read?

Books are tools that can be extremely helpful when coping with the isolating effects of grief, anxiety, depression, and trauma. They provide their readers with new information, additional support, and insightful guidance that can inform and supplement the therapeutic process.

What kind of books help in therapy?

I'm glad you asked.

ALL books can be useful tools in therapy, but these are some that offer insight on the issues that most commonly arise in therapy sessions. If you have a book that you think belongs on this list, let me know!
